Regain Breast Symmetry with Breast Lift Surgery

Symmetrical, firm breasts are often associated with youth and beauty. Unfortunately, breastfeeding, pregnancy, significant weight loss, and advanced years can cause breasts to sag and leave your body out of proportion. A breast lift is intended to restore your youthful silhouette while giving you renewed self-confidence in both your personal and professional life.

A member of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Bernard Kopchinski has more than 20 years of plastic surgery experience. If you are looking for a respected plastic surgeon in San Antonio, TX, Dr. Kopchinski is a board-certified surgeon listed in the Guide to Americaʼs Top Surgeons and has been a recipient of the Patient's Choice Award every year since 2008.

While many women may assume that a breast augmentation will rejuvenate their silhouette, a breast lift is often a much better option.

Benefits of a Breast Lift

Patients who undergo this safe and effective procedure at our San Antonio medical practice can benefit from:

  • Restored breast firmness following weight loss
  • Improved breast contour
  • Improved breast shape without the need for breast implants
  • More youthful-looking breasts
  • Elimination of sagging tissue

However, while a breast lift is a great way to improve the shape of your breasts, it cannot significantly alter their size. If you are seeking larger breasts, our San Antonio medical practice offers breast augmentation.

Am I a Candidate?

Candidates for a breast lift are usually dissatisfied with one or more physical attributes of their breasts. The procedure is usually recommended to patients who:

  • Have one breast that is larger than the other
  • Have experienced significant weight loss
  • Are dissatisfied with the position of their nipples
  • Were recently pregnant
  • Are unhappy with the shape of their breasts

Anyone who undergoes breast lift surgery should have realistic expectations about what plastic surgery can deliver, however. Elective surgery can deliver a more attractive bust, but it cannot address emotional or relationship issues. During your consultation at our San Antonio office, Dr. Kopchinski will ask about your cosmetic goals for plastic surgery. Treatment is typically only recommended to candidates who are seeking results for personal reasons rather than to please someone else.

Breast asymmetry can present itself in terms of distance from the collarbone or from the fold beneath the breast.

A Look at the Procedure

Your breast lift surgery will begin with the administration of IV sedation or general anesthesia. Once you are fully sedated, Dr. Kopchinski will make multiple incisions around your areola. Then, the breast tissue is reshaped to improve the shape and contour of the breasts. The nipple is repositioned to a more youthful height. Excess skin will be removed as needed.

The final step involves suturing incisions shut once more. While scars from these incisions cannot be avoided completely, Dr. Kopchinski will ensure that they are minimal and discreetly placed so they blend in with the natural features of your breasts. You will be given detailed recovery guidelines before being released to rest at home. Dr. Kopchinski gives his after-hours cell phone number for patients to reach him 24/7. He even makes himself available on weekends.
